NETFLIX’S first ever Spanish-spoken original series worldwide. Spanning 4 successful seasons, Isi Sarfati, AMC participated in the first two seasons that paved the road for NETFLIX to enter the Latin American market. The debut season was directed by Gaz Alazraki, acclaimed for “Nosotros los Nobles,” Mexico’s top-grossing film for some time.
Helmed by Simon Bross, Latin America's renowned advertising director, and expertly captured through the lenses of Isi Sarfati, AMC, and Carlos Hidalgo, AMC, this production leverages ingenious in-camera techniques and tricks to craft a captivating and innovative introduction.
This hilarious scene unfolds as Isabel storms into Chava's office, venting about losing one of the team's key sponsors, only to discover him in an almost naked state, wearing only a tiny pair of underwear and getting a body paint tan. Chaos erupts as Chava continues to keep his arms raised, unperturbed, while getting his body tanned.
We persevered and overcame every obstacle to capture this pivotal shot. The season's concluding scene required a great shot. As we brainstormed creative solutions, we dismissed the use of a crane due to its excessive weight, which could have damaged the delicate grass of the soccer stadium. We tirelessly explored various alternatives for days until we settled on the use of a cable cam that seamlessly transported us from the soccer field to the owner's stage atop the venue.
Directed by well-known advertising director Roberto Aguilera, this montage introduces a different mood compared to the rest of the show. It's the only time in the season when we filmed soccer in an advertising-style manner. Until now, we had portrayed soccer games as if seen through a TV camera. However, in this crucial moment where the team faces a crisis, we changed the storytelling approach at the beginning of the episode. This shift in narrative helps advance the storyline, using various visual symbols to represent the team's challenging times.
This funny scene captures the essence of the season, making it one of my favorites. It showcases the fast-paced chaos in the Cuervos' office, the ongoing brother-sister rivalry for the team's presidency, and highlights the sexist challenges Isabel faces in a male-dominated environment. Plus, it delivers clever comedy with an iPad.
