Film Scenes

Turn Poliforum Siqueiros to daylight

The most challenging scene to light in the entire film was the one we were saving for the grand finale. We were on the hunt for a location that would leave a lasting impression – one that was vast and brilliantly lit. When we stumbled upon the Poliforum Siqueiros with its monumental, sprawling mural, the Director was captivated, but he had one concern: "It's perfect, but it's too dimly lit." That's when I embarked on the careful task of crafting the illusion of a massive window cascading light from the side. The end result, however, is breathtaking.

Photo-shoot

In this sequence, the shots artfully align with Cecy's perspective, capturing her growing exasperation with Raquel. Collaborating closely with Director Maria Ripoll, I meticulously crafted each shot to evoke the sense that Cecy is suffocated by Raquel's presence. Employing reflections strategically, I ingeniously wove a visual metaphor, symbolizing the insincere feeling Cecy senses as Raquel attempts to mimic her, as if she were a mere reflection.

Toilet Reunion

This scene is among my favorites. Characters with contrasting personalities interrupt each other while one of them is seated on the toilet. They all enter casually, as if they were lounging the sofa seen just before.

Fashion Show

In this fashion-centered film, we knew that a glamour was a must. This particular runway spectacle serves as a visual distinction from the rest of the movie, marking the moment when Raquel realizes she likes this new world. It's a vibrant, contrasting, and visually striking scene that feels akin to a high-end fashion shoot.

Expensive, new life

In this scene, once more, I used reflections to show Raquel's transformation. She's not only dealing with a hangover and the harsh sun on her face, making the scene more uncomfortable, but she's also diving into this new, fancy life and doing whatever it takes to fit in.
